Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet neighbourhood within the West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" spot. The West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a huge part that stretches from Lachine to the west. The West Island is frequently referred to as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time in the city was brief. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. Her first ambition was to dance but the growth rate of her body meant she grew beyond the dancers she was with. She admitted in an article written by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. When I outgrew my male friends, I quit. In the case of Brugel, it was the advice of one of her drama teachers from high school, which prompted her to begin acting. Her teacher suggested she audition for the role of Anne for their school's annual production. The teacher who suggested that she take on a part in the school's annual show. This led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program which she graduated with A Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000. Since then, she's appeared involved in more than 60 productions, both on big screens and smaller ones. The most notable was her notoriety when she got her performance as Rita for the show that won awards. series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in the season 1 and appeared only on occasion.
